Low Iron can make your tired

16% of American women are low in iron. If your iron is depleted, everything just takes more effort. Iron deficiency and anemia are not the same thing. It is possible to be exhausted due to low iron and not be anemic.
Exercise uses up iron, so be especially on the lookout for low iron if you are ramping up your exercise.

Some symptoms of Low Iron:

  • Fatigue
  • Hairloss
  • Irratibility
  • Weakness

Foods High in Iron:

  • Chocolate
  • Liver
  • Sesame, sunflower and pumpkin seeds
  • Dried Apricots
  • Caviar
  • Clams, Mussels, Oysters
  • Red Meat

Just because you're not craving any of these foods doesn't mean your iron is good. The body doesn't always crave the specific foods it needs. For example, quite a few people who are low in iron love to chew ice. That doesn't have iron.

Before supplementing, have your doctor to do a blood test and see where your iron levels are

WARNING: An overdose of iron can kill. Too much iron is associated with cardiovascular problems. Get guidance from a doctor.
WARNING: Iron poisoning is the leading cause of poisoning deaths for children under 5 in the United States. Store any pills containing iron with appropriate caution.

Yahoo mail is down, how can I get my mail?

Problem: Yahoo mail is down; you can't get to your email

Solution: go here:

This is the mobile version of Yahoo Mail. Sometimes it works even when http://mail.yahoo.com/ doesn't work.

Details: When Yahoo mail is down, you need an alternative way to get to your mail. It's frustrating when Yahoo Mail doesn't work, but it seems like all mail services have problems sometimes. Yahoo uses a lot of mail servers, so even when there's a problem with one, another might work. When the main way to get to Yahoo Mail is broken, some other, alternative (alternate) way could still be open. I just tried this and it work. 'Hope it helps you too.

Top 5 Nutritional Deficiencies: Fat and Tired? You might be malnourished

Problem: You're overweight

Solution: Proper nutrition

Occam's Razor: the simplest answer is probably correct

Let's say you eat too much. Now the question is, Why?

There's a whole industry of people coming up with complicated reasons for overeating. And a whole culture of people putting fat people down and feeling virtuous about it.

But let's apply Occam's Razor.

Why would a person eat too much? Because the body is demanding it.

Why would the body demand excessive amounts of food? Because it's not getting enough of what it needs from the food that it is getting.

In other words, if you're overweight, it's because you're malnourished.

Malnourishment causes overeating

Do you think the body can't tell when it's missing something? Of course it can. But it can't say, "Hi, can you raise your intake of Magnesium by 120%, please?" All it can do is make you hungry, and it can do that really well.

Where food is scarce, malnourished people are skinny for the same reason everyone else there is skinny--there isn't a lot of food.

Where there is plenty of food, malnourished people are fat because their bodies are compelling them to eat to try to get the nutrients they aren't getting enough of.

80% of Americans have some kind of nutritional deficiency.

So it's not surprising that so many of us are overweight. It's only surprising that we're not 80% overweight.

Proper nutrition can satisfy hunger that's been making you overeat.

It's not a personality problem, neurosis or lack of willpower that makes some people overeat. It's a million-year-old survival instinct called hunger. How can anyone call you weak because you eat when you are hungry? Hunger is the strongest natural drive.

No, you are not weak because you "give in" to your ingrained biology.

If other people don't overeat, it's because they are not experiencing the same overwhelming internal pressure you are. Perhaps they are compelled by a fundamental biological urge to be judgemental jackasses. We'll try to be understanding.

The following five posts will each discuss one nutrient Americans are commonly deficient in.

How to Create a Good Habit: Easy and Painless

How to Establish any Habit Painlessly and Easily

1. At a specific time, get ready to do the activity

2. You don't have to do it, just get ready, get in position and begin (like do one second if that's all you want)

3. Keep at it. You'll have the habit down in a week or less.

Example:

I decided I wanted to exercise every day when I got home from work.

Except of course I never felt like exercising when I got home from work. I wanted to go through the mail, rest, have a snack, etc.

So I said, okay, every day when I get home from work, I'll go to my Wii, turn on Dance Dance Revolution and then just do whatever I feel like doing. Surprise, surprise. At that point, I pretty much always feel like dancing one song, as in, "Well, I'll just do one." It's a fun game, so there will be a few "Well, I'll just do one more."

When I'm done on the Wii, I'll most often think, "Okay, I'll just sit on the TotalGym and see what happens."

And I'll do a short weight training workout too.

This was an extremely easy way to establish a habit.

And if I'm ever really, genuinely, too tired to exercise after work, no problem. I'll just get ready, turn on the Wii, stand it front of it, decide I'm too tired, and I don't have to do it. But I won't have blown off exercising. I'll have still abided by my habit.

Helpful hints:

1. Exercising when you're tired after work makes a lot of the tiredness go away

2. Consider keeping your Wii on all the time. That way it's ready to go and it's less hassle. I think it's better for the machine, too, since the fan is going and it doesn't overheat. I think when it's in off/standby mode, it can overheat and burn out. I don't know. I used to keep it on all the time and it was fine. Then I decided to save energy by turning it off. When I turned it on it was broken.

Fountain Pen problems? Better ink might help

Problem: My fountain pen skips.

Solution: Use better ink.

1.  Get a converter for your ink pen so you can use your own ink

2. Buy Noodler's blackest black waterproof ink (it's supposed to have the best inkflow)

3. Load up your pen with Noodler's ink.

4. Turn the dial on the converter to push some ink out of the nib (to clean it).

5. Wipe the nib off.

6. Optional:  Take the converter off and put it on again (it seems to help the air pressure inside the converter)

Details:

Some inks work well with some nibs and not with others. Here's a Lamy Safari with a medium tip and the Lamy ink that came with the pen. The ink is fine.

Here's the very same ink cartridge in a Lamy Safari with a broad tip. Notice that it has skipped in at least three places.

Here's the same pen and nib using Noodler ink.

Note: You can't just change the cartridge, you need to clean the nib by pushing the new ink through it. If the old and the new ink are mixing, you can still have problems.

My Lamy pen makes my fingers sore

Problem: Lamy cuts down the part of the pen you hold with your thumb and forefinger to make it a thin triangle.

Solution: Sugru.

Sugru is like Play-Doh, but it after it cures it is very durable.
  1. Mold it against the pen to make it comfortable.
  2. Be sure you'll be able to close the cap.
  3. Let it cure for 24 hours

Sugru is a rubber clay. After you open a package, you have half an hour to shape it as your wish. After the Sugru cures for 24 hours, it becomes remarkably tough, although still somewhat flexible.

Note: You need to use the Sugru within six months. It will be no good after 6 months.
